Late July is beautiful

I am excited about my Montana trip and was emailing Tommy yesterday. On the philosophical side, a philosopher argued that God couldn’t be omnipotent and omniscient at once because an omnipotent being wouldn’t deep down existentially know what it is to fear, be frustrated, or despair. That philosopher was David Blumenfeld, who is Emeritus from Georgia State and a Leibniz scholar. The article was “On the Compossibility of the Divine Attributes” (Philosophical Studies, 1978). What an interesting problem! Maybe God could know fear vicariously, through sympathizing with his creatures? In any case, it’s a very clever way of looking at things.

Olympics Opening Ceremony was very lovely. I am working on my paper on B. C. Johnson, chapter from his Atheist Debater’s Handbook, “The Problem of Evil.”

Roscoe has his three-day rotation and today is Saturday and he is tired. He’s such a dear. Well, so long everybody for now! Take care.

Oh, by the way, the CIPC is beginning this coming week, but I have too much philosophy to attend this year.
