Yellow alert

Well, I just read about William Dembski’s life on his website, and I see that I’d better be hush-hush about my interest in Intelligent Design, because it can get you expelled even from Christian institutions, not to mention secular ones. I know it’s science and not pseudoscience but it is too fledgling and I can’t risk my prospective job first in 10 years at a community college by identifying with it! But of course, what I think privately is my own affair. I guess I’d better not teach it, but can at least mention it if I teach Intro to Philosophy or Philosophy of Religion.

I am really impressed by the complexity of a cell, and think that chemicals swishing together with the primordial lightning hitting them would not result in even RNA duplicating itself, although the RNA hypothesis was interesting. Dawkins says we have to look for a self-replicating molecule! And if we don’t find one, we can conclude that extra-terrestrials must have seeded life here on earth! Anything so long as it’s not a God. Materialism has become dominant.

Well, time to build a bookcase! Although I hardly buy any books anymore, and rely on the library, still I have to keep my textbooks and notebooks somewhere easily accessible so I don’t get confused taking these 21 credits this semester.

Happy MLK Day tomorrow!

Oh yes, as for piano I have a wonderful new teacher at The Music Settlement, whose first name is Joseph, and we are working on Grieg’s Wedding Day at Troldhaugen.
